thank god. . .

Another eventful day at work. Today its Friday so as usual we will have a mass safety patrol after lunch.
As usual I was expecting the same crap, spot the hazards, do rectification, more complains then end up with a long meeting that will last till four in the afternoon.
it started out lame as only 5 of the safety professional attended it. usually its around 10, most are on leave today or busy at other worksite.
halfway through the patrol, one working supervisor was seen rushing to us crying for help.
his gas meter was beeping and shows reading of H2S.
It was just a neighbouring unit and we rush to the scene, and by then i can already smell the foul odour. To my surprise the workers don't seem to care at all. Maybe its the complacency mindset, that comes with experience working for too long in this industry or simply plain STUPIDITY! !
As we went further in the reading shows 12 for H2S and 10 for CO. and the limit for H2S is to be below 10 and these people were completley ignorant and just carried on doing with their work. As safety personnels, it is our duty to ensure their safety. we called all out to evacuate and except for one dumb foreign worker, he looked at me blankly and said he want to finish tightening teh bolt of the pipe. WTF?? plain stupidity or just that ignorant. unfortunately, one worker working on the second platform passed out and as safety personnel we have to come in and rescue him out. i went in a group and we manage to pull him out. luckilly he came to after 10 mins. it was a near miss. thank god. after everything is over, i sat through the meeting thinking that it could be me next. working in a dangerous environment like this, i can never know how thw future is like. will i still see tommorow. . . i can only ponder.
